Public Comment – There was a brief discussion with some residents this evening regarding their concerns of the possibility of more flooding in our area. The board will contact St. Louis County Emergency Services about trying to get more sandbags and sand for this area. County Commissioner Paul McDonald will be contacted. We may need to ask for volunteers when the time comes. The residents were also told that they could contact Greg House if they needed sand before the township is able to get some delivered to the Town Hall. The board also told them that the sandbags were to be used to protect structures not docks. The township does have some sandbags at this time if anyone feels they need them right now.
Old Business –
PPSSD – Supervisor L. Warrington reported that the air conditioner is now fixed. Septic Check will attend our September 3rd meeting. Supervisor L. Warrington will review our contract with Septic Check and make revision recommendations to the board.
Community Sewer Project – There was a public hearing held on June 27th to approve the addition of 34 parcels to the South Shore Sanitary Sewer District. There will be an added bullet to the resolution once John has spoken to the affected property owners. Clerk M. Manninen read Resolution #2024-02, Resolution to Establish Subordinate Service Districts. Supervisor L. Kec moved to approve Resolution 2024-01 with the added bullet, seconded by Supervisor T. Tomczak, all voting aye, motion carried.
Roads – Supervisor L. Kec reported that G. House has put down two loads of gravel on Pucks Point Road.
Community Center – Chad Nevalainen would like to put more fill around the cement pad at the entrance to the kitchen at the Town Hall so there is no longer a step up or down from the pad. Chad will haul and spread the fill and the township will pay for the fill. The timer is off on the water softener and must be reset. The smoke alarms are outdated, and Lee Herseth will come in and replace them. Dave Brown can fix the issue of water leaking into the septic tanks here at the Town Hall. Brush roots around the holding tanks are letting the water leak into the tanks. Dave can replace the seals and remove the brush and roots. Chad N. will be asked to remove the weeds at the front of the building while he is mowing the area. Clerk will speak with Chad regarding this and the fill issue.
