ANNUAL MEETING
MARCH 8, 2022

The annual meeting of the Town of Kabetogama was called to order by Clerk Manninen at 8:15 pm on March 8, 2022. There were 7 people attending this meeting. Those attending the meeting recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Clerk Manninen called for nominations for a moderator. Marlene Tomczak moved to nominate Larry Warrington, seconded by Brigette Master. Clerk Manninen asked if there were any other nominations, (twice). A voice vote was taken for Larry Warrington as moderator. All voted aye, no nays, Larry was voted as moderator.
Agenda: The agenda was reviewed by all. Marlene Tomczak moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Mary Manninen, all voting aye, motion carried.
The Clerk was asked to read the Board of Audit Minutes from the March 1, 2022 meeting. Betsey Warrington moved to accept the Board of Audit minutes, seconded by Marlene Tomczak, all voting aye motion carried.
Old Business:
The minutes from the 2021 annual meeting were reviewed by all. Betsey Warrington moved to accept the minutes, seconded by Brigette Master, all voting aye motion carried.
The moderator read the dates for the next Annual Township Meeting. The annual meeting will be held on March 14, 2023 at the Kabetogama Town Hall at 8:15 pm. Alternate bad weather date is March 21, 2023 same location and time.
The next Annual Township Election will be held on March 14, 2022 at the Kabetogama Town Hall from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Alternate bad weather date is March 21, 2023 same location and time. Mary Manninen moved to accept these dates, times, and locations, seconded by Marlene Tomczak, all voting aye, motion carried.
Election Results – Moderator Warrington asked for the results of the Annual Township election held March 8, 2022. For the position of Supervisor 3-year term, Brigette Master received 12 votes and there were no write-ins. For the position of Clerk 2-year term, Mary Manninen received 12 votes with no write-ins. John Stegmeir moved to accept the 2022 election results, seconded by Mary Manninen, all voting aye, motion carried.
Lake Kabetogama Volunteer Fire Department Annual Report 2021
Fire Chief Bryan Wichner gave the following report - The department now has 12 active members with the addition of Rachel Tomczak and Cindy Wichner. The department responded to 14 fire calls and 3 medical assists. The department continues to ask for more volunteers. Volunteer Fire fighters are eligible for a retirement benefit after being vested for 5 yrs.
The department has again begun in-person business meetings and hands on training. Fire Chief Bryan Wichner is trying to resume the hunter’s supper and raffle this year.
Projects completed in 2021:
Purchased 10 full sets of turnout gear including boots and helmets which cost $31,750
Purchased the RAM Air 4 place gear dryer unit for $6700
Purchased the Grove EW30 Extractor for $5996
Purchased new high-density rubber 3000-gallon dump tank for $2470
Purchased 3 25’ lengths of fire hose for $450
Purchased 2 new pagers for $900
The helipad is now complete, all markers are up
Future Projects:
Purchase a new side by side to replace the 26 year old 6x6 which has become increasingly unreliable. The 6x6 will be kept as the snow removal unit for the helipad. Estimated cost around $25,000 but we are working on incentives and discounts for Fire Departments. Thanks go out to the Kabetogama Community Club which donated $5000 to be used specifically for this purchase.
Purchasing a Kimtek Medilite Transport rescue skid for the back of the side by side for approximately $3750
Purchasing FAA approved De-icer for the helipad, price unknown at this time.
Purchasing 12 new sets of wildland fire fighting gear to replace our current gear which has expired approximate cost of $4800. We will be applying for the DNR 50/50 grant to help cover this expense.
Purchasing 2 more full sets of turnout gear once our new members have completed one full year of service $6350
We were able to get another year out of our boiler which Shannon’s found to be incorrectly installed. The current quote from Shannon’s is $8500 installed. This will be discussed at the nest business meeting
A new building or partial reconstruction of the original building is still in consideration.
Until we come to a final decision on what we are going to do for a new building or partial reconstruction of our current building the fire Departments budget we remain the same.

Kabetogama EMS 2020 Annual Report:
Fire Chief Bryan Wichner stated that the medical went out on 37 calls and is looking to get a new snowmobile.
Work at the Walleye:
Betsey Warring gave an overview of the work done at the walleye. Hopefully it will be completed by this spring. Betsey thanked the Kabetogama Township for the donation of $2600 towards the project. There is a grant from the IRRRB for up to $10,000 to be used for the signage on the kiosk. The stairs to the walleye are to be stained this year also.
New Business:
The 2023 proposed levy was reviewed by all. The only change was an increase to the insurance liability line, from $3,500 to $3,800. Brigette Master moved to approve the 2023 levy in the amount of $93,000.00, seconded by Marlene Tomczak, all voting aye motion carried.
Brigette Master moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:54 pm, seconded by Betsey Warrington, all voting aye, motion carried.
