Chairman L. Kec opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Board members present were Supervisors T. Tomczak, L. Warrington and Clerk M. Manninen and three guest. Treasurer D. Callais was absent. All attending recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Agenda – The agenda was reviewed, Supervisor L. Warrington moved to approve the 3/4/24 agenda, seconded by Supervisor T. Tomczak, all voting aye the motion carried.
Minutes – The minutes for the February 6, 2024, regular meeting were reviewed, Supervisor T. Tomczak moved to approve the minutes as read, second by Supervisor L. Warrington, all voting aye motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report was reviewed; the report was approved on a motion by Supervisor L. Warrington, seconded by Supervisor T. Tomczak, all voting aye motion carried.

Supervisor L. Warrington moved to accept the claims and pay them in full, seconded by Supervisor T. Tomczak, all voting aye motion carried.
Public Comment – Tim and Char Watson brought a petition written by a group of concerned citizens from here and surrounding areas on the Voyageurs National Parks assertion of jurisdiction by the NPS of the waters of Rainy Lake, Namakan, Kabetogama and Sand Point Lakes which has led to detrimental outcomes, including:
Overzelous law enforcement activities that have significantly impacted the local community and visitors alike.
Overreaching changes in policy regarding the usage of these waters, limiting access and enjoyment of all.
Proposed commercial policies that will undermine visitor services, interrupt the local tourism economy, local operators, and thereby damaging the economy of greater Minnesota and detracting from the overall visitor experience.
Actions being taken by VNP on MN businesses operating on state waters that hinder and threaten the livelihood of owners and employees of those businesses.
The group is asking the State of Minnesota to fulfill its duty by upholding the provisions of Minn. Stat. 84B.061
A motion was made by Supervisor T. Tomczak to approve this petition and sign it, seconded by Supervisor L. Warrington, all voting aye, motion carried.
Old Business –
PPSSD – Supervisor L. Warrington reported that things are going good right now. An issue with a pipe in Elaine’s driveway needs to be addressed this spring.
Community Sewer Project – The public hearing held on 2/22 was attended well here in the hall (30) and online (34). The next step is the design phase. SEH will be flying some drones this spring over properties. The board would like to have the residents notified of this. We have signed paperwork for an additional $750,00 from the clean water fund.
Roads – Nothing new
Community Center – New state flag has been hung and the front door has been fixed by Supervisor T. Tomczak.
Other – Supervisor T. Tomczak reported that Brent Olson will look into grants for multi-purpose use of the property across from the Town Hall.
New Business –
Supervisor L. Warrington made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Supervisor T. Tomczak, all voting aye motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
