PPSSD – Supervisor J Stegmeir read his financial report for the Pucks Point Subordinate Sewer District for the year 2021 and projected for 2022. These numbers will be sent to all members of the district in January of 2022. Supervisor J Stegmeir made a motion to approve the new agreement with Septic Check, seconded by Supervisor B Master, all voting aye, motion carried.
Community Sewer Project – We have had no communication back from Matric Soils & Systems regarding the soil testing done on the Houser property. We now have a purchase agreement ready that will be used when we purchase the Houser property. Supervisor J Stegmeir has worked with our attorney on this matter. This last legislative session, the Clean Water Council recommended, and the legislature approved $1.4M dollars to the Voyageurs National Park Clean Water Project. At the October 20 meeting, the Joint Powers Board distributed these dollars among the communities in the project. Kabetogama received $300,000 for FY22/23. Supervisor J Stegmeir has spoken with SEH and they would like to work on this project. SEH will work on a contract with us and we will discuss this in January 2022. The board is looking for a name for this new sewer project. One suggestion was Kabetogama South Shore Sewer System. Nothing has been decided yet.
Roads – Nothing new.
Community Center – Marlene does not think that Viitas will be able to get here yet this year to work on the outdoor septic alarm. The Township received that grant from IRRRB in the amount of $10,000 to be used for the Community Wayside Replacement Project.
Other – Supervisor J Stegmeir moved to follow the CDC guidelines and to hold our meetings in the large room at the Town Hall and to wear masks if attendees are uncomfortable, seconded by B Master, all voting aye, motion carried.
New Business – Clerk Manninen received a Tobacco License renewal for approval and signature. The board is not sure we are responsible for signing this license. Clerk M Manninen will contact St. Louis County regarding this matter. This is tabled to the December meeting.
Supervisor B Master made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Supervisor J Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:51 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Betsey Warrington, Deputy Clerk
